Most people were never taught how Haiti helped shape America as we know it today. 🇭🇹🇺🇸 In the late 1700s, Haiti—then the French colony of Saint-Domingue—was one of the most profitable colonies on Earth, built on the forced labor and knowledge of enslaved Africans. Then they fought back. The Haitian Revolution defeated Napoleon’s forces and ultimately created the world’s first independent Black republic. That victory also helped derail France’s ambitions in North America and contributed to Na
